Program 10 days

This program has been created with a lot of dedication and care.

We do our activities right in the heart of the reserve, in a unique place where all Amazonia visitors would love to see for at least one hour. This place is named El Dorado! . A huge lake, which, due to its isolation, is not easy to reach by most tour operators. The Amazonia region has many, many great things to see- including the native peoples, rare flora & fauna - but our main goals are the big animals. In El Dorado lake, there is a beautiful park ranger station where we will spend the first two nights- giving us greater chances to see big caimans, tapirs, monkeys, manatees, capybaras, anacondas and our constant objective; jungle cats!!!- in this area there is a high population of the cat`s main source of their food; capybaras!!!

Day 01

Pick up from airport or hotel. Our bus will be ready to depart to Nauta (1 1/2 hour bus ride)  where our private boat will be waiting to start our navigation. During navigation we will be having our first contact with wildlife, such as dolphins, birds and more. This day we will be leaving straight to Manco Capac; the only area we can have access to El Dorado Lake. Seven hours later we will be arriving at our base camp where, we will have a chance to rest. Tonight we have two options: Jungle walk or exploration by dugout canoe. During the jungle walk we will have the opportunity to see frogs, toads, katydids, beetles, night birds and more.  The boat ride gives us more chances to see caimans, night birds, night monkeys, snakes and other mammals.

Day 02

Early mornings are one of the best times to have great encounters with wildlife. We never know when we can have the best view which is why we encourage you to wake up early every day . Before breakfast we can choose our activities by dugout canoe or by foot. Either way, we will have good chances to see rare monkeys, manatees, giant river otters and more. After a hearty breakfast, we will head to our next adventure that will last at least 6 hours. A great day loaded with a lot of adventure and great observations!!!! We will take a box lunch with us in order to make the best of the time.  Dinner is followed by an evening boat exploration, again in search of big caimans and other nocturnal animals.

Day 03

Pre-breakfast activities. Right after breakfast, we will start drifting down the Yanayacu River by rafts, so that we will not negatively impact the wildlife. This is a very unique experience giving the best chances of seeing wildlife close-up. Each raft will hold only 4 guests. Drifting down river by raft, we will not make unnatural noises, which will increase our chances even more of seeing more animals. All our rafts are safe and quite comfortable. Lunch will be on the rafts. By 5:00 pm or 6:00 pm, we will stop by a park ranger station or camp site in order to spend the night. Night activities again by boat or by walking.

Day 04

Early morning activity. After breakfast we will explore a narrow creek where  packs of giant river otters have been observed over the years. These unique creatures have been highly protected in this area. Due to its isolation the only people you may see are park rangers or Biologists. After lunch we will explore lakes around the area looking for capybaras since these biggest rodents are the main prey for jaguars our chances definitely will be good to see this lovely cat.

Day 05, 06 and 07

After early breakfast we will start drifting down river again by our well made and safe raft giving more great views that will be provided by Mother Nature. Some days we may switch to motor boats in order to reach our destination in time. Nights will be spent in park ranger stations, camp sites depending on your personal interests. Besides of rafting we will have more options such as: walking, fishing but wildlife observation our main goal.

Day 08

Exploration of Jerma area. This area is surrounded by a great number of lakes, creeks and aquatic vegetation. This vegetation is perfect habitat to see anacondas. This area is coveted by researchers and Biologists but since we have agreements in place we are also allowed to enter in this unique place.

Day 09

By this day we expect to be in Yarina area this area is known to have one of the best  preserved areas. A beautiful creek named Chingana in more than 16 years of guiding no one lake or river has been as impressive as Chingana. Such great creek that it may become the highlight of the trip.
